This study explores the post-colonial concern of place and displacement in Javeds Ashes, Wine and Dust and its consequent identity crisis through textual analysis of the novel. The novel traces the theme of home and homelessness and the paper explores the connection between place and identity. Mariam feels alienated at home and this feeling of displacement unsettles her at each stage of her life.
