Community based knowledge regarding non-pharmacological interventions used to treat Hypertension in Pakistan

Abstract
Objective: To explore the individual’s knowledge regarding hypertension and use of different non-pharmacological interventions to treat patients.
Methodology: This cross-sectional survey based upon questionnaire was conducted among public using independent variables like age, gender, educational status, socioeconomic status and regular visit to health care provider and the dependent variables like blood pressure ranges.
Results: We found that 45% participants were unaware about non-pharmacological interventions about hypertension and those aware (55%), followed these interventions on non-regular basis. A significant majority of patients stated that they rely more on pharmacological interventions than non-pharmacological ones.
Conclusion: There is need to increase awareness regarding non-pharmacological interventions or to improve the quality of life to prevent the occurrence of hypertension.
