Manic Episode Associated with Ginseng: A Case Report

Introduction: Ginseng root extract is widely recommended by herbalists for different purposes .This report describes the development of manic episode after usage of ginseng root extract.
Case Report: A 47-Year old male with no active psychiatric disorder presented a manic episode during ginseng intake. Symptoms disappeared with benzodiazepines and antipsychotic medication.
Conclusion: Ginseng might cause manic episodes.It is clear that healthcare professionals have to learn more about herbal products that patients are using.
