HETEROGENEOUS ELECTRON TRANSFER KINETICS OF
DIBENZOYLFERROCENE IN APROTIC SOLVENTS

Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of dibenzoyl ferrocene was investigated by cyclic voltammetry in the temperature range 303–333K in the
DMSO, DMF and DMA. The experimental results indicated that the redox reaction was quasi-reversible. Mass transport towards the
electrode is a simple diffusion process and the diffusion coefficient (D) for redox couple has been also calculated for all the solvents. The
diffusion coefficient is sensitive to the viscosity, dipolarizability and temperature of the system. These results indicated that the k
0 and D
increase in the following order of solvent DMSO< DMA< DMF.
