Knowledge Of Clients With Oral Cancer On External Radiation Therapy About Self Care.

Abstract: External beam radiotherapy, or teletherapy, refers to radiation delivered from a source placed at some distance from the target site, usually administered by high energy x-ray machine. The major advantage of high energy radiation in its skin-sparing effect. Objectives: 1. To assess the level of knowledge regarding self care of External radiation therapy among clients with oral cancer 2. To find association between the level of knowledge regarding self care of External radiation therapy among clients with oral cancer with their selected demographic variables Materials and methods : A quantitative research approach and
descriptive research design was used . 45 clients with oral cancer in the age group of (both male and female) 21-80 years who fulfill the inclusion criteria were selected by purposive sampling (or Judgmental) technique. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data. The data was analyzed in terms objectives of the study using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: 53 % of clients with oral cancer on ERT had below average knowledge, 31 % had average knowledge and 16% had above average knowledge about self care of ERT.
