Abstract

Background: Stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability, and it is more likely to occur in those who are older. This study aimed at determining the lifestyle of the elderly with stroke in Saudi Arabia.
Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out from January to October 2019 in Saudi Arabia to determine the lifestyle of the elderly. An online survey was conducted among elderly male and female patients whose ages were from 40 to 80 years. The data were collected through an elderly lifestyle questionnaire.
Results: A total of 100 elderly patients with a previous history of stroke participated in the study. Their mean age was 45.9 ± 10.1 years. The statistical analysis reported a significant correlation among gender regarding healthy diet and stress management; age regarding prevention, physical and recreational activities, and sport; educational level regarding prevention, and also marital status regarding the interpersonal and social relations.
Conclusion: The results reported a significant correlation between genders, age, educational level, and marital status regarding the lifestyle of elderly stroke patients.
