Abstract | | | | Objective: To assess the association of sedentary life style and musculoskeletal disorders in school going children.
Methodology: This was a cross sectional survey and data were collected from different private schools of Karachi. A sample size of 385 school going children from 6th to 10th standard of both gender were selected. A face to face interview was conducted and a Questionnaire was given. A self-administered Nordic questionnaire was used for collecting the data.
Results: A total of 385 subjects participated and 185(48.1%) were male and 200(51.9%) female. Physical activity was done by 372(96.6%) participants for 1-5 hours and 13(3.4%) for 6-10 hours. Those with sitting posture using mobile phone had pain in upper back in 123(31.9%) of participant after sitting for 1-5 hours.
Conclusion: Sedentary life style predisposed study participants for having pain/ache/ in number of different parts of body. This was more common in neck followed by upper back.
