Objective: To determine the prevalence of absence of palmaris longus in young adults of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad, Pakistan.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study was conducted on in students of Shifa Tameer-e-Millat University, Islamabad and 254 participants of both genders were selected through non-probability convenient sampling. Individuals of age 18-25 years of both genders were included. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21.
Results: Only 39 participants (15.4%) were having the tendon unilaterally and 35 (13.8%) were with totally absent tendon.
Conclusion: Overall Palmaris Longus absence is less with unilateral absence, slightly more prevalent than the bilateral absence of the tendon. Moreover, its association with gender and hand dominance was found to be significant.
