Higher Education Enrollment Trend and Job Opportunities in Pakistan: A Subject-Based Comparison

Higher education has created new fields of specialization in accordance with ever changing needs and social requirements of the society. As a result, conventional fields of specialization are getting replaced with the new ones. With the emergence of the new specialization-based opportunities in the job market, enrollment trend in higher education has considerably increased in the last two decades. Candidates are willing to join the job-oriented fields at higher education level. The present study is an effort to explores the higher education enrollment trend and corresponding job opportunities in Pakistan. The survey based quantitative study revealed that there exists a gap in the enrollment trend and corresponding job opportunities. The gap is wider in the science subjects as compared to the social and administrative sciences.
