Cannabidiol (CBD) is the most common phytocannabinoid found in cannabis plants after tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Unlike THC, no psychoactive effect has been demonstrated. Due to its effect on various neurotransmitter systems, and its neuroprotective and antiinflammatory properties it has been tried for treatment of many physical and psychiatric diseases. In this letter, the characteristics of CBD and its place in various psychiatric disorders will be briefly mentioned.
