ABSTRACT: The hands are the conduits for almost every transfer of potential pathogens from one patient to another from a contaminated object to the patient or form a staff member to the patient. Thus, handhygiene is the single most important procedure for preventing infection. To protect patient from nasocomial infections, hand hygiene must be performed routinely and thoroughly. Aim: The aim of the study was to assess The knowledge regarding hand hygiene among staff nurses and nursing students. Objectives:(i). To assess the level of knowledge regarding hand hygiene among staff nurses. (ii) To assess the level of knowledge regarding hand hygiene among nursing students. (iii) To find out the association on level of knowledge regarding hand hygiene among staff nurses with their selected socio demographic variables.(V) To find out the association on level of knowledge regarding hand hygiene among nursing students with their selected socio demographic variables. Methodology: Non-experimental descriptive design, 30 samples were selected by Non probability convenience sampling technique through lottery method. Results: The study reports reviewed that staff nurses 5(33.3%) had adequate knowledge, 4(26.7%) had moderate knowledge, 6(40%) had inadequate knowledge Among staff nurses and 6 (40%) had adequate knowledge, 4(26.7%) Had moderately adequate knowledge, 5(33.3%) had inadequate knowledge in nursing students. Conclusion: The investigator concluded that the nursing students have more knowledge than staff nurses regarding hand hygiene.
