The solution of patients problems is facilitated by evaluating them with their families. In this respect, genogram provides great benefit by accessing detailed patient and family information. Genetic, medical, social, behavioral and cultural characteristics of the family can be summarized by genogram. The genogram is based on a classification that combines biological and psychosocial aspects rather than disease classification based solely on biological criteria; illuminates chronic, hereditary disorders. It is also useful for illustrating common problems of unknown etiology of the family. There is no doubt that in the discipline of Family Medicine, a standard approach to family genograms during family interviews will be very useful.
