Evaluation of BISAP Score >3 in determining mortality of severe acute pancreatitis

Abstract

Objective: To find the frequency of mortality in acute pancreatitis patients with BISAP score >3.
Methodology: It was a quasi-experimental study done at PAF Hospital, Sargodha and CMH Sargodha, Pakistan from June 2016 to May 2017. All acute pancreatitis patients of both genders, between ages 15 to 75 years with BISAP score >3 were included. Data were collected on a predesigned proforma and analyzed using SPSS version 19.
Results: Total number of patient was 65. Male to female proportion was 1.24:1. Mean age was 52.8512.99 years. Mortality was 78.46% with BISAP score >3.
Conclusion: BISAP score can be added for the improvement of clinical care and risk stratification in the first 24 hours of presentation.
