The future of religious tolerance in modern uzbekistan

Akhmedov Ergash Kuldashevich.

Abstract

This paper analyzes Uzbekistan's experience in providing religious tolerance and outlines its future opportunities. The article provides clear examples of the roots of tolerance and reconciliation in the region for a long time. It is also said that the religious practices of the indigenous people in the former Soviet Union were violated and the brutal struggle against the believers, however, failed to undermine religious traditions. After Uzbekistan gained its independence, many changes were also made in the religious sphere. It is particularly noteworthy that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev after his coming to power began positive reforms to create greater religious tolerance and freedom. Despite the fact that the new government is carrying out its reforms, and efforts are being made to ensure religious stability and respect the principles of tolerance and mutual respect, the government still has problems in the religious sphere. While there has been some positive changes in the field, there are still problems waiting to be addressed regarding religious freedom and religious stability. There are also suggestions on how to ensure religious tolerance in modern Uzbekistan.

Key words: Religious stability, religious tolerance, intolerance, religious organization, interfaith dialogue, religious balance, freedom of conscience, religious freedom.
