Business Pregnancy Results and Related Risks in Nilufer Public Health Training and Research Area Between 2005-2006

Abstract

BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate the pregnancy results and effecting factors in Nilufer Public Health Training And Research Area (NPHTRA).
METHODS This descriptive study was included 808 women who gave birth from 1 January 2005 to 31 December 2006 on NPHTRA. Data of this study was obtained from the records of pregnant women and women in postpartum period charts, married women belonging to 15-49 age group charts,children charts and household charts.
RESULTS Average age of women was 27,8 ± 4,9 years. Most of them (57,8 % ) were graduated from primary school and 4,0 % of them was illiterated.The ratio of the pregnant women who had at least one risk during their pregnancy was 83,5 %.The most common risks were primiparity41,6 %) , previously having a gestation problem (24,6 %) and women who had given birth less than in 2 years time (15,1 %). The cesarean ratio was 43,8 %. There were statistically significant relationship between cesarean delivery and more than 35 years of mothers’ age, more than 8 years of mother education and narrow or indeterminate pelvis position.
CONCLUSION To prevent the complications of pregnancy and postpartum period, the quality and quantity of prenatal care must be adequate and the risky pregnancies must be controlled more frequent.
