Benzene and its Health Effects

Abstract

Benzene is an aromatic hydrocarbon, colorless, sweet-smelling liquid. It is an important industrial solvent, is used in the manufacture of plastics, detergents, pesticides, and other chemicals. Benzene is a carcinogen. Short-term and high level benzene exposure causes symptoms of the central nervous system. Long-term benzene exposure may affect to bone marrow and blood production. Additionally, genotoxic, immunological, and urogenital negative effects may occur with chronicle benzene exposure.
