Spontaneous colon perforation due to fecal impaction

Abstract
Constipation and fecal impaction, can be seen frequently especially in elderly patients. On the other hand, colonic ischemia and perforation due to fecal impaction is a rare condition. Uncomplicated cases of fecal impaction rarely requires surgical intervention, and a few in this situation have been reported in the literature. In this case, a patient who admitted to general surgery clinic for about ten days without defecation, complaints of abdominal pain and abdominal bloating; in his first application manual extraction of petrified feces was performed and next day discharged from the hospital; three days after applied to the Emergency Service with the sudden onset of abdominal pain and abdominal bloating complaints; and after abdominal computed tomography imagining, fecaloma and perforation in the sigmoid colon identified; and colostomy with Hartmann procedure was performed after left hemicolectomy; is presented and discussed with the current literature.
