Abstract
The mechanical properties of potato-starch filled LLDPE such as Youngs Modulus, tensile strength and elongation at break were studied. Apart from the Youngs Modulus, the tensile strength and elongation at break reduced with increased starch content. This is attributed to poor adhesion between starch and the polymer matrix. The mechanical properties however, conform to Kerners and Nielsons models with very minimal deviations.
Key words: Youngs Modulus, elongation at break, Kerners and Nielsons Composite Models, LLDPE
