Current Treatment Strategies for Recurrent Urinary Tract Infections

Abstract

Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are the most common bacterial infections among all age groups. Three UTI episodes with positive culture results in a one year period are called recurrent UTIs. Recurrent UTIs are common health problems threatening physical and mental health of the individuals in all age groups. Unconscious antibiotic usages lead multi-antibiotic resistant agents. In a multidisciplinary manner the patient must be evaluated if he/she has a genetic, physiological or anatomical disorder. Several current approaches such herbal products and vaccines are increasingly used to avoid antibiotic overuse
