Selected disease fundamentals based on the unified cell bioenergetics

Andrzej Kasperski, Renata Kasperska.

Abstract

The aim of this work is the search of a unified theory of cell bioenergetics in the context of clarifying the mechanism which can initiate selected diseases. In this work a proposal of a universal bioenergetics model of eukaryotic cells is presented. This universal model can be
treated as an extension of the integrated model of eukaryotic cell bioenergetics shown in our previous study. Using the universal model we would like to demonstrate the possible existence of a singular fundamental description of cell bioenergetics. Moreover, we attempt to
show that if this universal model exists, analyses of cell bioenergetics phenomena, including analyses of selected mitochondrial and heart diseases can be based on it. The presented idea explains among others the behaviour of the cells in the initial phase of these diseases.

Key words: Cancer, Crabtree effect, Diabetes, Mitochondria, Pasteur’s effect
