Abstract

Tuberculosis is a potentially fatal contagious disease that can affect almost any part of the body but is mainly
affect the lung parenchyma. It is caused by a bacterium called mycobacterium tuberculosis. “Tuberculosis kills five
thousand people every day. Aim: To assess the knowledge and attitude of Adults regarding Prevention of Tuberculosis.
Objectives:1. To assess the knowledge of young adults regarding prevention of Tuberculosis. 2.To assess the attitude of
young adults regarding prevention of Tuberculosis. 3. To assess comparision between the knowledge and attitude of
young adults regarding prevention of Tuberculosis. 4. To find out the association between knowledge of young adults
and demographic variable regarding prevention of Tuberculosis with their selected demographic variables. Materials
and Methods: The study was conducted by descriptive research design and purposive sampling technique was used to
collecte the sample. Sample Size: 50 young adults were selected from District Tuberculosis Centre, Guntur, as sample
and collected the data from them. Statistical analysis: Descriptive and inferential statistics used to analyze data. Results
and Conclusion: The findings of the present study revealed that 18% (9) of young adults having below average knowledge
level, 34%(17) of them having above average knowledge level , 48%(24) having average knowledge level. Analysed
data shows that there is significant relation between attitude of young adults and their knowledge regarding prevention
of tuberculosis at the t value is 0 .420 level.
