Propofol at induction: Does anxious patient need more?

Abstract

Preoperative anxiety increases postoperative analgesic requirement, prolongs hospital stay and results in poor patient satisfaction. Studies done before showed contrasting finding between level of anxiety and propofol required during induction. We investigated the correlation of preoperative state of anxiety on propofol requirement at induction of anesthesia and vital signs.
