The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of technology transfer channels on internalization of technology in Turkey. For this purpose, standart granger causality test based on the vector error correction model (VECM) and the generalized impulse response function (GIRF) are conducted by using data over the period from 1978 to 2015. In this study, the increase in high-tech products exports represents the internalization of technology. Because countries that transfer technology through different channels will be able to produce and export more high tech products based on technological knowledge if they learn and internalizate the transferred technology. The variables of foreign direct investment and import of high-tech products imports indicate technology transfer channels. According to the estimation results, there is long-term causality from high-tech product import and foreign direct investment inflow to high-tech products export. But the GIRF results show that they have negative effect on it. These findings suggest that Turkey can not internalize the technology transfer. It stem from fact that the technological capacity is insufficient to internalize the technology in Turkey. Therefore, Turkey should develop strategies and policies to improve their technological capabilities.
