Abstract

FMF is an autosomal recessive disorder with recurrent episodes of pain and fever due to acute infammation of the peritoneum and is one of the most common causes of acute abdominal pain in Mediterranean countries. However, the presentation may be atypical such as synovitis, pleuritis, pericarditis, or a month-long febrile myalgia in patients with FMF. The mentioned atypical presentation may sometimes lead to delays in diagnosis. Here we present a 46 years old case of FMF diagnosis coming with ascites and myalgia showing an atypical presentation. In primary health care, keeping in mind that FMF is common for our country and it may set an atypical presentation, therefore being more careful in getting the anamnesis from the patient can turn out to prevent the delays of the disease diagnosis.
