In recent years, interest surrounding the experiences of military membership from a womans perspective has grown. Through semi-structured interviews with a sample of veteran female military members, this study investigated how they experienced the masculine military culture as well as how they coped with trying to assimilate into such a culture. Key findings demonstrated utility of feminist standpoint theory, the effect of organizational anticipatory socialization on female member expectations in the military context, and coping strategies utilized by female military members. The study also uncovered the effects of higher-ranking female military mentorship on junior female recruits.
