An Investigation into the Approaches as to Sexual Lives of First Class Student at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Educational FacultyFide,Kaya*, Özlem,Serin, Ayşe,Genç. Abstract | | | | Abstract: This study was carried out to form a basis for the sexual health education that we planned and to identify the expectations from the sexual reproduction health services and to determine the approaches as to sexual lives of first class Educational Faculty at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University. The descriptive style study was applied to 340 first class student between 20-24 February 2006. The age of 70.0% of the students ranges from 17 to 20. The 4.7% of the girls and 25.3 %of the boys have sexual experience. 99.2 %of the participants had their first sexual experience when they were between 16 and 19. 27.4% had causal sex with someone they do not know in return for money. 14.4% have a still lasting sexual lives. 62.8 %of them used condom when they first had sexual intercourse. 38.2 %of them indicated that they knew a method to prevent pregnancy after the unprotected sex and 19.4% said this was to use following day pill. 96.5% of the participants regarded sex education as being necessary. They indicated that they wanted to be informed about sexually transmitted infections (73.5%), first sexual experience (56.2%), hymen (50.3%), methods to prevent pregnancy (47.1%), signs of pregnancy (27.6%). 89.1% of the participants stated that they wanted to receive sex education from an expert / a nurse. According to results of our study it has been found out that sex, education level of the mother and religious beliefs affect the opinion of the student about sexual experiences before marriage.
