A study to assess the effectiveness of pepper mint juice for indigestion among old age people residing at Saraswathinagar, Nellore.

Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Ageing is a normal process of time related change, begins with birth and continuous throughout life. Older people are more likely to
maintain good health and functional independence if appropriate community based support services are available. Remedial measures and care in the home is an alternative to hospital placement for the physiological problems, among old age people. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY:  To assess the level of indigestion among old age people.  To assess the effectiveness of peppermint juice on indigestion among old age people by comparing pretest and post test.  To find out the association between the effectiveness of peppermint juice on indigestion among old age people with selected sociodemographic variables. HYPOTHESIS: RH1 : There will be statistically significant difference on indigestion after taking peppermintjuice among Oldage people. RH2 : There will be no statistically significant difference on indigestion after taking peppermintjuice among Oldage people. 1. Research design- quasi experimental design 2. Setting of the study- Saraswathi Nagar with the population of 5000. 3. Population All old age people who are 60yrs and above, residing at Saraswathi Nagar. 4. Sample- Old age people who have indigestion 5. Sampling technique- simple random sampling
technique. 6. Sample size-30 old age people, with age group of 60- >70. CONCLUSION: The main conclusion drawn from the present study was the oldage people in the group are suffering with mild to profound degree of indigestion. This understood that the pepperment juice for the oldage people will surely improve their digestive status.
