Design and Simulation of Compact High Impulse Voltage Marx Generator: Electrical and Physical Aspects

This paper discusses and simulates the Compact High Impulse Marx DC Generator (CHIVMG). The high impulse voltage (more than 30kV/cm) is generated by this compact Marx generator. The deep analysis and design of this generator is discussed. After derivation of the transfer function of the Marx generator, the stability and its ability to generate high impulse voltage is thoroughly discussed. A 15 stages prototype is built to verify the design and the high impulse voltage is generated.
