THE COEXISTENCE OF AUTISM AND EATING DISORDER: A CASE REPORT

Abstract
Background: A case of autism who lost 18 kgs within 1.5 months with vomiting episodes following binge eating attacks and refused to eat solid foods within last one week is presented in this study. Case Report: Due to solid food intake was completely stopped and fluids were vomited he was decided to be hospitalized and was admitted to psychiatry clinic with the diagnosis feeding or eating disorders not elswhere classified (FED-NEC). Intravenous hydration and olanzapin 15 mg velotab/day was initiated. Conclusions: Studies on children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) showed that these children had atypical eating patterns and rituals compared to the healthy group.
