KNOWLEDGE OF STUDENT NURSES REGARDING THROMBOLYTIC THERAPY

Abstract

INTRODUCTION:The thrombolytic therapy is a treatment used to breakup dangerous clots inside blood vessel. The thrombolytic therapy is used in the treatment of the acute myocardial infraction, stroke, deep vein thrombosis, coronary artery disease etc,. The benefits of therapy is that, it is easily accessible and affordable even in the thrombolysis, clearly better than other treatments. Thrombolytic agents can be administered as a bolus. It is quickly reduce the clots and the re-perfusion therapy is offers. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY: • To assess the level of knowledge on student nurses on thrombolytic therapy. • To determine the effectiveness of self module in
terms of gain in knowledge scores. • To find out the association between the level of knowledge on thrombolytic therapy among nursing students with their socio demographic variables.Descriptive research design, is used to assess the knowledge regarding thrombolytic therapy among student nurses.Non probability convenience sampling of 30 student nurses at Narayana Medical College Hospital, Nellore. were selected. Those who are II and III year student nurses, were included. RESULT: (2) 2 (6.7%) Awarded A+ Grade,4 (13.3%) obtained A Grade, 4 (13.3%) scored B+ grade, 5(16.7%) got B Grade, 6 (20%) got C Grade, 9 (30%) scored D Grade.
