Vernonia glaberrimais a shrub that grows in Nigeria and other West African countries. It is used in folk medicine for the treatment of different ailments. This plant contains5-methyl coumarin-4β-glucosidein very large quantity. Despite the abundance of these natural products its biochemical mechanism of actions and potential molecular targets are yet to be identified. In this research work, we identified the likely molecular targets of this compound using Pharm Mapper, Swiss Target Prediction and molecular docking. Two enzymes namely, carbonic anhydrase 2 and 12 were found to be the most probable disease related targets. The present study provides information on potential therapeutic targets of 5-methyl coumarin-4β-glucoside for future drug development.
