The objective of this study is to investigate Keyness views on the role of the state in capitalist economies. In order to do this, we reviewed Keyness own works regarding the role of the state and the relevant studies with direct reference to Keynes. This study consists of two main sections. In the first section, we reviewed Keyness critical thoughts on deficiencies of the laissez-faire principle. The second section is dedicated to analyze the role of the state and a number of Keyness policy recommendations under three subsections: 1- Keynes and corporatism, 2- Keyness fiscal policy recommendations in order to maintain full employment and improve income distribution, 3- Keyness views on state planning.
