The Role of the State in Keynes's Own Works

The objective of this study is to investigate Keynes’s views on the role of the state in capitalist economies. In order to do this, we reviewed Keynes’s own works regarding the role of the state and the relevant studies with direct reference to Keynes. This study consists of two main sections. In the first section, we reviewed Keynes’s critical thoughts on deficiencies of the laissez-faire principle. The second section is dedicated to analyze the role of the state and a number of Keynes’s policy recommendations under three subsections: 1- Keynes and corporatism, 2- Keynes’s fiscal policy recommendations in order to maintain full employment and improve income distribution, 3- Keynes’s views on state planning.
