Central Nervous System Involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Cerebellar Infarctus

Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by the production of autoantibodies, generation of immun complexes and activation of the complement system. Central nervous system involvement in this disease is frequently and referred as neuropsychiatric lupus. The most common manifestations of neuropsychiatric lupus are cognitive impairment, headaches, mood disorders, seizures, anxiety, psychosis and ischemic strokes. The mechanism underlying ischemic strokes is atherosclerotic process causing thrombotic or embolic occlusion of major blood vessels.
In this case, we present a young woman with Systemic lupus erythematosus and diagnosed with ischemic stroke.
