Glycine betaine provides significant perception on the dynamics of pearl millet by activating the host defense responses during its interaction with the pathogen. It was extensively studied as compatible compound for improving abiotic stress tolerance, here it has undertaken to upsurge present knowledge on resistance induction in laboratory and greenhouse conditions. Experiments with glycine betaine, mainly studied as a natural compound for inducing disease resistance against downy mildew in pearl millet and aim of exploration on induced resistance is to control disease in practical and commercial situations.

Key words: Glycine betaine, Pearl millet, Downy mildew, Sprongiospores, Hypersensitive reaction.
