Objective: To evaluate the role of the CHA2DS2 VASc score as a short term clinical predictor in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients undergoing regular haemodialysis.
Methodology: This retrospective cohort study analysed CKD patients undergoing regular haemodialysis at a tertiary hospital in Medan, Indonesia. Patients were categorized into low (0-1), moderate (2-3), and high-risk (4-9) groups based on their CHA2DS2-VASc scores. One-year mortality was the primary outcome, assessed using survival analysis and multivariate regression.
Results: Higher CHA2DS2-VASc scores ≥4 were associated with older age, increased comorbidities, and elevated inflammatory markers. Survival analysis showed a significant correlation between higher scores and increased mortality risk (HR 5.602, p
