Abstract | | | | Objectives: To find out the prevalence of internet addiction and loneliness and the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness among students of Wah Medical College.
Methodology: A Correlational study was carried out on students of Wah Medical College. Sample size of 250 was calculated by using WHO sample size calculator with a population prevalence of 7.9%. Sample was selected by using simple random sampling technique. The questionnaires were distributed to the students to be filled by them. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 21. Pearson Correlational test was applied to find the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness.
Results:177(70.8%) students had no internet addiction, 67(26.8%) had moderate internet addiction and 6(2.4%) had severe addiction. 121(48.4%) had loneliness while 129(51.6%) students had no loneliness
Our study found out a positive correlation between internet addiction and loneliness with rs= 0.182 and p value of 0.046.
Conclusion: Moderate internet addiction was found in our subjects and was positively correlated with loneliness.
