KNOWLEDGE AND VACCINATION STATUS OF HEPATITIS B AMONG DENTAL ASSISTANTS

Abstract

ABSTRACT
INTRODUCTION: Dental healthcare professionals are three times more in danger than the other public to get dirtied with other blood tolerated disorders and hepatitis B because they are in straight commerce with the infected persons. Hepatitis B is among those diseases which may have solemn dangers to life. SETTING: Multan Medical & Dental College Multan
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This questionnaire-based cross-sectional survey was conducted in Multan. In this study simple random sampling technique was utilized at the hospital of Multan city. 95 participants completed a questionnaire. RESULTS: 65 were males and 30 were female. 85 participants were off the opinion that vaccination of hepatitis B is necessary in their profession while 42 participants got vaccinated. Most of the participants failed to get vaccination due to lack of motivation/attention to this issue. CONCLUSION: Dental institutes should take responsibility to educate their health care workers regarding precautions and vaccination against hepatitis B virus.
