A review Study on Maintenance Management

Abstract

Maintenance management is defined as a system of operations designed and built to maintain the assets and physical resources of an industrial or service facility.
Rapid technological developments have contributed to the emergence of modern machines and equipment characterized by high technology and thus this requires Paying attention to maintenance in institutions.
Machine maintenance is concerned with keeping the operation of mechanical assets with minimum downtime. It involves the processes of regular scheduled service, routine examinations, scheduled and emergency repairs and replacement of damaged or worn parts.
The maintenance management organizes and monitors activities related to maintenance and maintenance of physical assets. Optimizing maintenance costs, improving asset life cycles, and reducing unplanned equipment failures are primary goals of maintenance management. It includes extrapolating problems that may occur in the future and eliminating them through scheduled periodic maintenance tasks. Scheduling oil changes and regular inspections for trucks in the fleet is a good example.
The Objectives of Maintenance Management are: costs and budget controlling; compliance with regulations; maintenance work plan; ensuring employee safety; equipment failure and Production downtime minimization; useful machine Life extension; Product Quality improvement; develop improved policies, procedures, and standards.
Mechanical maintenance is considered as systematic process of inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machinery and equipment to ensure their reliable and efficient operation, extend their life, and prevent unexpected breakdowns. It could also include equipment calibration to ensure precision, as well as cleaning and sanitation.
