The Reality of Medical Services Provided to the People with Special Needs in the Majmaah City from the Viewpoint of Specialists

Abstract

Background: quality services provided to special needs population highly effects on their rehabilitation outcomes. Physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing and support services are necessary services provided to people with special needs.
Purpose: the aim of this study is to emphasize the reality of medical services provided to the people with special needs in the Majmaah city from the viewpoint of various specialists
Materials and Methods: This is a Descriptive study. A Structured self-Administered questionnaire was completed by the specialists in different fields in the hospital to assess medical services provided to the people with special needs at the health centers in Majmaah province, Saudi Arabia
Results: The study was consisted of five questions in the questionnaire. The first question showed that the level of medical services provided to the disabled in the province from the viewpoint of specialists, the second question also showed statistically significant difference at the level of (α = 0.05) medical services provided to the disabled in the province from the viewpoint of specialists such as doctors and nurses, the third question showed that differences in the level of medical services provided to the disabled in the province from the viewpoint of specialists according to the qualification is not a statistical function at a level of significance (α = 0.05) the fourth question also showed differences in the level of medical services provided to the disabled in the province from the viewpoint of specialists according to expertise not statistically function at a level of significance (α = 0.05) finally the fifth question, the answer was that the differences in the level of medical services provided to the disabled in the province from the viewpoint of specialists according to the training courses non-statistically function at a level of significance (α = 0.05)
Conclusion: This study concludes that the level/quality of medical services provided to the disabled people in Majmaah province need to be improved and they must have a consistency in the delivery of medical services.
