Education on Prevention of Nosocomial Infections Among Staff Nurses at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore.

Abstract

Infections are extremely prevalent during childhood since the infant and child do not have the immunity to many infectious agents. Neonatal Nosocomial infections are infections that are results of treatment in a hospital or a health care service unit.

A study to assess the knowledge level of staff nurses on prevention nosocomial infections.

The research design selected for the study was quasi experimental one group pretest and post test design.The study was conducted in NICU of Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, Coimbatore on a total of 13 staff nurses selected by convenience sampling technique.

Results show that he pretest mean score was 18.84 and post test mean score was 28.84. The‘t’ value obtained was greater than the table value hence it is significant at 0.05 level. Hence the hypothesis, there is a significant differences in the knowledge level of staff nurses is accepted.
