Hospitalization is a very stressful situation in everyones life. It causes a distraction from the normal life patterns. Illness and hospitalization are the major crises children face, especially during the early years, because children are particularly vulnerable to the crises of illness and hospitalization.
The study to assess the level of anxiety and coping strategies among the parents of hospitalized children at selected hospitals and compare the anxiety and coping strategies used by parents of hospitalized children at selected hospitals, Tirupati. Descriptive design was selected to do study among 100 parents of hospitalized infants who were selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique.
Among 100 parents 31% (31) had severe anxiety, 34% (34) parents had moderate anxiety and 35% (35) had mild anxiety and among 100 parents 26% (26) had good coping, 44% (44) parents had moderate coping and 30% (30) had poor coping.
