A study to assess the level of knowledge on Hypertension among Hypertensive patients at NTR Nagar, Nellore.

Abstract

Blood pressure rises with age. Hypertension is an abnormal condition of the blood level of arterial system in which the systolic and diastolic blood pressure is elevated.However, the knowledge of preventive measures like Life style modifications, exercises, smoking cessation, alcohol restriction, caffeine restriction, relaxation techniques like yoga, biofeedback, and psychotherapy help in effective management of hypertension.The study aims to assess the level of knowledge on hypertension among hypertensive patients. Descriptive design was chosen for the study. The study was conducted at NTR Nagar. Sample consist of 30 hypertensive patients including 16 males and 14 males. Simple Random sampling technique (lottery method)was used.Data Collection was done using self structured questionnaire.Study reveled that among 30 hypertensive patients 12 (40%) of them had inadequate knowledge and 18 (60%) of them had moderate knowledge and no one had adequate knowledge.
