Rajesh.

Abstract

The period from 6-12 years is called as “elementary school age”, this is a critical period in the child’s achievement drive. At this stage, the child has to learn the academic subjects. This requires work at home and the child also has to relate himselfherself to hisher peers in the class room as well as on the play field. Besides these, an elementary school child now has to adjust hisher available time to TV viewing also, since today a TV set has become a part of the equipment of many Indian homes. Though TV acts as ‘’window on the world” which exposes children in an informal learning setting to a wide range of information and experiences, it has been perceived as a villain by many parents, educators and
social scientists.
