In ANCIENT INDIAN,under the rule of King Ashoka (272 236 BC) there are Public hospitals with male nurses and some older women as nurses. Hospitals are there for animals.But medicine remained in the hands of priest physician, who refused to touch blood and pathological tissue. These ancient nursing practices are so clear, intelligent and scientific, that many of them might fit into any of the modern textbook.according to
World Health Organization, the nursing workforce in India is still insufficient to meet the needs of the country.The nursing brain drain suggests that it may be one of the factors responsible forthis shortfall.
