Abstract
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome often occurs as a side effect of antipsychotic drugs. The syndrome is characterized by altered consciousness, hemodynamic instability, fever, muscle rigidity and susceptibility to malignant hyperthermia therefore anesthetic management is important. Electroconvulsive therapy used to in the treatment of psychotic symptoms with neuroleptic malignant syndrome. Succinylcholine is used as a muscle relaxant in the electroconvulsive therapy. Succinylcholine should be used cautiously in patients with suspected malignant hyperthermia. Suggammadex that antagonized of non-depolarizing muscle relaxants is used as easy and safe increasingly in recent years. This case report describes the use of rocuronium-sugammadex accompanied with literature for the anesthetic management of neuroleptic malignant syndrome.
