Evaluation of Control Monitoring Results in Drinking Water from Aspect of Public Health in Malatya Province

Abstract
Aim: Water sanitation is an essential practice to prevent diarrheal diseases. The aim of this study is to evaluate the results of monitoring of drinking water obtained in Malatya province.
Material and Methods: In 2012, this cross-sectional study held in Malatya province the results of total 1502 samples for control monitoring were assessed according to “Regulation on Water Intended for Human Consumption”. Results of bacteriological examination of water samples and water levels of residual chlorine measurements were analyzed according to the regions and seasons. Chi-square test was used to analyze the data. p < 0.05 was chosen as level of error.
Result: 30.2% of drinking-water was at an undrinkable level in city center and districts in the year 2012. Grouped according to geographic regions based on the analysis carried out in the province, there were differences between the regions in terms of levels of water pollution (p
