Aim: The purpose of this study is to determine frequency of microalbuminuria and to analyze related factors in obese patients in primary health care.

Meterial and Methods: This cross-sectional analytic study included 422 obese patients (f=306, m=116) ≥40 who applied to primary care units in Malatya city center. The participants’ weight, body mass index, body fat ratio and body fat mass, blood pressure and random plasma glucose were measured. Microalbuminuria was measured using portable Nycocard Reader II.

Result: Mean age was 52.9±10.9 years. Prevelence of microalbuminuria and macroalbuminuria were found 31.5% and 6.6% respectively. While prevelence of microalbuminuria was 32.7% in women and 28.4% in men, prevelence of macroalbumiuria was 6.8% in women and 7.8% in men (p> 0.05). As age increases, frequency of macroalbuminuria also increased. Incidence of microalbuminuria in men with a waist circumference of ≥102 cm, and in women ≥88 cm was 3.1 fold higher (95% CI: 1.10
