Mucoepidermoid tumors consist one third of all pediatric salivary gland neoplasm. The most common location of the tumor is parotid gland. These tumors are classified as low, intermediate and high grade according to the degree of histological differentiation. Low grade tumors generally behave as benign pathologies, although local invasion and metastasis can be rarely seen. Clinical stage and histological grade are the main prognostic factors. Total parotidectomy with facial nerve sparring is the treatment of choice in pediatric cases. Radiotherapy is generally avoided since the risk of secondary malignity and impaired development of mandible in this subgroup of cases. In this article, a 9-year-old boy with low grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma in the right parotid gland was presented. Pediatric salivary gland malignancies were discussed with the case report along with the current literature.
