Takayasu’s arteritis is idiopathic, rare vasculitis that affects the aorta and its primary branches. It predominantly affects women of reproductive age. There are clinical findings such as visual disturbances, cerebrovascular insufficiency, transient ischemic attack and the absence of pulses in the arms. Two different pressure values (10-20 mmHg) measured by the arms that should remind disease.
Anesthesia for patients with this type of panarteritis is complicated due to their severe uncontrolled hypertension, end-organ dysfunction resulting from hypertension, stenosis of major blood vessels affecting regional circulation, and difficulties encountered in monitoring arterial blood pressure. Therefore, we aimed to discuss anaesthetic management of a 32-year-old pregnant patient with Takayasu arteritis with combined spinal epidural anesthesia during emergent Caesarean section.
Key Words: Takayasu’s Arteritis; Combined Spinal Epidural Anaesthesia; Caesarean Section.
