The microbiological analysis of samples from women with suspected genital infection

Abstract







The microbiological analysis of samples from women with suspected gen i ta! infection The microbiological analysis of 470 cervical specimens sent to the microbiology laboratory of Turgut Özal Medical Çenter was done. For this purpose, direct Gram smear, wet preparations and aerobic culture results were evaluated.

Eighty-one (%17.2)of 470 samples were positive for potential pathogens, as pure culture or dominant growth. Of these 48 (59.3%) were Candida, 10 (12.3%) G. vaginalis, 9 (11.1 %) group B streptococcus 7 (8.6%) E.coH, 4 (5%) S.aureus, 3 (3.7%) Enterococcus. Two hundred fourty three of 470 (%51.7) samples were evaluated as normal vaginal flora. In 132 of 470 samples were no growth. Trichomonas vaginalis trophozoites were found
